Das Fast Food For You
Feb 6, 2009This Friday was the birth of yet another awesome Flex Friday. This week, we made our way up to the Cultural Center for some people observing. We sat down with sketchbooks, drew, wrote, and ate a whole lotta candy in the mean time. Running around public buildings is really fun, also. Our teacher was very loose about where we could go, so we ended up looking out windows for the dead birds caught on ledge-spikes. Morbid, much?

But of course, before we could do anything educational we had to stuff our faces with fast food (or “sculpted salt” in some people’s opinions) from the Thompson Center food court. I, at nine o’clock, am just recovering from the grub’s effect. Like I mentioned before, we bought a lot of candy. My friend did the math and figured out that buying tons of the small, 30¢ packs of gum is a better deal than the bigger ones. This revelation ended up with him buying $2.50 worth of Juicy Fruit, which adds up to about fifty-four pieces. What do you expect from three teenage boys with over fifty pieces of gum? He was dared to eat as many pieces as he can. Fearing that any more would gag him, I think he stopped the yellow glob at nine pieces. Drat! I was betting seventeen…

On our way back, we stopped by the Picasso sculpture not to appreciate it, but slide on it. I really underestimated the fun-ness of art. When we got back to school, there was only about fifteen minutes left. We spent that time watching America’s Funniest Home Videos clips and talking. My friend Annie has some awesome mock-Ray-Bans with a hippyish purple tint. I tried them on, which only made people think I look even more like a hippy. Hey, I am pretty up-to-date on my sixties history. Make love, not war!

My Nov. 4th Election Day Outfit ↓

Anywho, last Wednesday I went to a Chicago Wolves game. They’re a minor league hockey game, which means it’s more about over-the-top fireworks than hockey.. Okay, maybe not. But there was a huge display of flying fireballs. The Wolves were playing the St. Louis Riverman, the Blues’ minor team. Being from the near-St. Louis area, my dad was kind of rooting for them. The Wolves ended up winning with 5 points (I think) and a half-full stadium of fans. There weren’t any fights during the game, except for the one I missed. Of course, I was up getting my brother a five dollar cup of Dip N’ Dots when the one fight happened. Oh well. We had a great time.

Your classroom looks so much cooler than ours…
That picasso sculpture is cool, dor sliding on and looking at!
