Oh okay so it’s the weekend. I can deal with that. How was your week? I mainly went to school.. lost my Arrested Development virginity (OMG GOB/FÜNKE/BUSTER/EVERYBODY)… celebrated Cccccchhaaanukkah. Speaking of hanukkah HAPPY HANUKKAH. Whadja get? Anything? A board game? A button?

michael_johansson_01

Maybe you got one of these? That would be really cool. (via booooooom)

We twisted festival of light traditions by merging the CCFF (Christmas Chinese Food Feast) with the first night of Hanukkah (last night). It was a little bit hard for me to eat after watching Food, Inc in science, which was both disgusting and depressing, and disgusting. If the things said in that movie (even just one of them) are true, there is a crisis in what we put into our mouths.

Aanyway that’s gross. Beck released a new Record Club track yesterday! It’s still not mine yet but I’m excited just to see a new track and how it turned out. They also put up some pictures that Autumn took during the thingything, which are beautiful.

Yeah sorry if I blahg about this every week. It was just so amazing on MULTITUDINOUS levels (like one I never even talked about: meeting Beck), and that combined with them putting out another track every week = you, maybe annoyed. So sorry. Can I make a mix to make up for it?

(wow, I just realized how weird it is to have “≅ white” as title right next to Gadson’s face. awk-ward.)

No need to apologize (for what?). This third record club release is the best yet and
I’m impatiently waiting for each new track.
Anyway, thanks for the mix. I really like that Human Highway song.
And the pictures by Autumn are great (but this is really not a surprise;
she’s one of the best music photographers in the world).

I think most of Western Civilization, at least the part of civilization concerned with great music, gets worked into a bit of a frenzy whenever new Record Club 3 songs hit the “airwaves” (or I guess “internet backbones” is more accurate?) I’ve been wanting to check out ‘Food Inc’ – I just recently saw ‘King Corn’, which is a very good documentary on the dominance of corn and corn products in our diet (i.e. every time you drink a sugary soda, a sweet fruit drink, etc., you are drinking high fructose corn syrup, and when you eat a hamburger, you are eating meat from a cow that was fed corn at a feed lot.) It was pretty remarkable how pervasive the corn-spiracy was… (Sorry, I couldn’t help that one…)

Sweet pics.

I watched Food, Inc. this week too… Scary stuff.

There’s an article today on Huff Post about Monsanto (the mean corn company)

Best mix yet – Charlie Parker + Fleet Foxes! I can’t wait for the rest of the Record Club 3 releases. Any chance the Record Club performances will be available on CD or DVD?

Love your blog. fun to read when i’m procrastinating at work. ;)

Who took that photo of the chair with the different suitcases, clocks, etc. stuffed into it? I love it, but can’t seem to make the link work to find out. Reminds me of the work of the surrealist artists like Marcel Duchamp, which if you don’t know his work, you’d love it, I think. I recall that many, many years ago – late 80s/early 90s – the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago had some of his pieces. they still might; you should check it out.

Spencer, you best believe what you saw in Food, Inc. for your own health! It might seem scary, but it’s what’s really happening day in and day out and you have a say into what food you consume. Take that power and run with it. Considering your blog posts, you seem to be very aware for your age and I hope this extends to your thoughts on food, health and nutrition (I know as a teenager I wasn’t worried about those things, but now in my early 20’s I most definitely am and intend to be for the rest of my life). It’s serious stuff, but it can be really rewarding to know where your food comes from and that it’s making you healthy, rather than sick. Here’s to your health, dude!

You met BECK? For the past couple of weeks, he has been my obsession. Okkervil River, though they are terrific, have been surpassed by Beck. On Sunday, I checked out his record club to find this, and let me tell you, it’s awesome. Also, I can’t believe that Feist was there, too! This is incredibly exciting. Anyway, this is awesome. You’ve probably heard it already, but have you checked out the Cripple Creek track, with Jamie Lidell taking the lead? It’s my favorite so far.

I’ve got Food Inc. in my Instant Que with Netflix. I bought a PS3 for myself more for the Blu-Ray than anything and have become addicted to watching Doctor Who episodes on Netflix. Ever watch that? It’s a very old show that has had numerous incarnations over the years. It’s British Sci-Fi. A little cheesy but a lot of fun. Start in with Doctor Who Season 1 from 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor.

And yeah, Arrested Development is an awesome show. Have all those on DVD…now I want to watch all of them. Michael Cera reminds me of a less confident, little more naive version of my dear boy.
