Axolotls are popular amongst crafters. Pretty obvious why, I’d say. :)

They also look a lot like juvenile tiger salamanders, which are not endangered. As a bonus, they morph into… tiger salamanders.

man, 30rock is so good. my saturday was thai food from Snow Spice, watching the 30rock season 3 dvd in its entirety, and learning to knit [almost finished a hat! a real live hat. that is useful. as a hat.]. kind of the best day ever.

i almost saw Where the Wild Things Are this weekend, but opted instead to avoid the hipsters of opening day and enjoy the toy story 3-d double feature instead. it was a really good decision.

Dude. The animal in the second pic is called a Sea Dragon…coolest animal ever. I know this because I wrote a whole paper on them last year (the great thing about that sentence is that last year was my Sophomore year of college…best class/assignment ever?) Anyway look ‘em up they’re actually pretty cool, they only live off the Southern coast of Australia and they don’t have any natural predators since they’re so bomb at camouflage. They’re still pretty endangered though cause divers keep trying to take them home as pets :(

Anyway. Moral of the story is sea dragons are awesome. And I also can’t wait to see Where the Wild Things Are…

Wild Things was really good…but REALLY sad. I’m guessing most younger kids won’t pick up on how sad, but as I was wiping tears with a very scratchy napkin, I glanced at my 6 year old and he had tears streaming down his face.

i think that thing is the cutest animal ever. besides the slow loris. the seaweed-horse thing is awesome too! but not as cute.

definitely see where the wild things are. it’s totally not the book, but the book was like, 5 pages, and you can’t make an accurate movie out of a 5-paged book. it’s really awesome and epic though.

Unfortunately those of us who live at the arse end of the world (but it is a nice arse) don’t get to see the movie until early December. I’m thinking it will be great but when I saw the trailer with the ‘Wake Up’ song, I instantly fell in love. I’m thinking it’s going to be one of those ‘I must get this on dvd’ movies even when you have only seen the preview.
I really love that little salamander. So cute. I want to make a soft toy based on it. It could make me millions because how could you resist getting one?!

I ended up not seeing Wild Things last night either (ended up returning the tickets, right before my sister called me to say “I changed my mind, I want to go!”) Let’s make a deal to go see it in theatres in our respective cities sometime within the next week…although I will be in NYC next weekend…hm.
