Sep 20, 2009Laaazzzaaayyyy Sundaaaaayy.
It was gray, then it rained, and I made duct tape crafts and listened to music. I also watched The Office (which as always is hilarious but mildly depressing) premier and the Discovery Channel (which makes me want a lizard). Aand Parks & Recreation (which is SO MUCH funnier than last year). School tomorrow. Blah.

A friend of mine had an iguana. He had to chop fresh food for it everyday, and it was a lot of work with that and the cage and all, but it was cool to look at. Sometimes he would just take it out and put it on his desk while he did his homework and it would just sit there and look at him. One day it spit at me, so I could tell that the iguana *did not* want to be my friend.
Loved your cat from a few posts back, by the way. Is that the only family pet or do you also have a dog?
Oh my gosh – Little People! I haven’t seen those in ___ years! I had such a crush on that green man with the yellow cowboy hat and the white bandana around his neck. Thanks for the memory and the pretty picture.
I looooooooove the Office. And I agree that Parks&Rec is funnier, but it’s a bit of an Office knock off with the whole acknowledge-the-camera-thing. And Amy Poehler’s character is kinda like Michael.
Hey Spencer,
This has absolutely nothing to do with your post but I just read some news about your friend Tavi who I am familiar with from reading your blog…http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/sep/20/tavi-gevinson-new-york-fashion
Thought you might like to read the article if you haven’t already.
I feel like I’ve posted a comment like that one on another post a billion years ago from when Parks and Rec first aired.. ? Maybe?
I had a pet iguana named Jumpie when I was in 3rd grade and I brought it to school to be the class pet. Each week someone would be assigned to feed Jumpie lettuce each morning. One day when we came in Jumpie was dead behind a rock in his cage/terrarium. Unfortunately, the boy who was assigned feeding duty that week was blamed by the entire class. I know it hurt his feelings, and I think he was always picked on before and after that. It makes me sad to think how cruel we can be as kids. I hope I’m raising a boy with greater empathy than I had as a kid.
I had the Sesame Street Little People Playset, which was four city blocks worth of buildings, toys and doodads, all of which ended up under some couch cushion somewhere. I’m pretty sure the green skinned, red moustached Little Person on the right edge of your photo was an old skool Sesame Street character named Sherlock Hemlock.
the pic for this wouldn’t load the other day so I’m just now seeing it…whose little plastic people are those? Because that’s taking me back to being a little kid…used to put those in this Ringling Bros. train I had…man…feelin’ old.
