Lunch Vibez
May 27, 2009Today yesterday I had a band concert at school. We played at the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was kinda windy out and our parts were flying everywhere. We were actually prepared for that (we usually play there every year, so, knowing that it’s windy most of the time, we come with clothes pins to pin down our sheets) but today it was particularly gusty and my part, along with two other kids’ flew away in the middle of a song.. We had to improvize, which, uh, worked out kinda well.
And, oh yeah. Afterwards, me, Henry, Hayden, and a few other friends were eating lunch, when A FREAKING SEAGULL LANDS ON OUR TABLE, SNATCHES MY PIZZA AND FLIES AWAY. After it had stolen my overpriced zoo-food-court pizza it landed like twenty feet from our table so I went up to it, got the piece of pizza, took it back to the food court for proof that my food/~lunch vibez~/me were just TRAUMATIZED BY A VICIOUS SEAGULL and that I would please like a refund. They were out of pizza. I got a hot dog. Meanwhile, I said to my friends, *mock-teenage princess voice* “Ohh emm, geeee, I am like, sooo gonna blog about this.”

After school Sammy, mom, and I went to see Night At The Museum, “Battle of the Smithsonian.” 1. It made me really really want to go to the Smithsonian. I find museums interesting. Except for when they’re like, not-interesting. I really like the Museum of Science & Industry here in Chicago but I’ve been there so much, it’s a little bit old now. 2. If you’re a movie critic-freak that pays attention to every single detail of the story line and everything, this movie isn’t for you. There were a couple little plot holes, but, hey, it’s just one of those entertaining feel-good flicks, y’know? 3. It has an awesome cast. Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, yeah. 4. That one guy, the one from the British “The Office,” Ricky Gervais is in it.. Every time I’ve seen him in anything, he’s always playing a downer (like in Ghost Town, which is a pretty good movie. It has a song by my dad in it, but that’s not why I like it :D)! I wonder if that’s actually his personality. TANGENT ALERT: Every time I watch the British (the original) Office I have to use subtitles because I can’t understand a word they’re saying. I’ve only seen it once, by the way. 5. I think the first one might’ve been a little bit better.. This one was just a little too far fetched, and a little bit less exciting. Yeah, I think the first one was better.
*SPOILER ALERT* So basically the plot is Larry (Ben Stiller), the night guard, is running his own business and is now like a highly paid CEO but he misses being at the museum with all his homies so he goes back there, only to find that they’re all being moved to the Smithsonian to be stored in the Federal Archives, which then sends them all on an adventure to D.C. where they almost get killed by bloodthirsty Egyptians and Al Capone and other bad dudes but then Ben Stiller, I mean, Larry is all like “wattcchaaaa” /cool flashlight movez/ and beasts the evil wannabe-world-conquerers and saves everybody. Oh yeah, he also has an affair with Amelia Earhart.
Whew, lots of movie reviews lately (if you call two lots then, yeah). I’m not even a movie buff! Movie buff.. that’s a term, right? By the way, you know what movie looks high-larious? Year One. I love Jack Black, as well as Michael Cera. Do I say “by the way” too much?
Today was, in fact, the end of my seventh grade academic year. School isn’t over yet, but school school is. All we have left is the end-of-year 7th grade camping trip! And, uh, graduation (this Friday), but that’s for the eighth graders. Tonight we wrapped up our final project with the Independent Study presentation night.. I’m so glad it’s over! And sad, but I’ll try to stay in touch with all my friends and stuff this summer.
Oh sweet summah time, we’ll be there soon!

The Smithsonian is the greatest, PLEASE let’s all meet there some day when your dad has a gig in D.C. The seagull pizza incident sounds like a weird dream. I assume your mother wasn’t there or she would have been screaming for dear life. Oy! Wait, your dad had a song in “Ghost Town?” I saw that on my last plane ride but I don’t remember. And listen, boy, don’t you be dissin’ the Museum of Science & Industry or I may have to slap you…
I loved the first Night of the Museum so I will have to check this out (I didn’t read your plot spoiler). I haven’t seen Ghost Town yet but I LOVE Ricky Gervais. But more so, when he is with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington. You should check out their podcasts. Karl Pilkington may have a head shaped like an orange (In Ricky’s opinion) but I think he is hailarious.
One time when I was playing crash cymbals, and I crashed REALLY hard right in front of my stand and my music went flying. I know that that doesn’t really compare to a windy day, but my band teacher started to crack up. =D Your story of the seagull reminds me of when I was at the zoo when I was six (maybe?), and a large bird landed on my head and started to peck the crap out it.
Year One looks awesome. I love Jack Black (haha, cock pushups), but I also have a crush on Michael Cera. :)
“Year One” might just be awesome. Michael Cera reminds me so much of my son – he doesn’t see it. It’s in mannerisms and his quiet, odd humor.
TECHNO MIND FREAK!!! – sorry – that phrase has been inundating everything I write on for the past 10 minutes.
Ohh… has anyone else noticed that Michael Cera looks a bit like Beck? Same nose, same innocence.
Hah. My Captcha says “Recently caramels”, and it made me laugh.
If you like Michael Cera, you should check out this movie that he plays the lead role in, called “Youth In Revolt”. It’s based on the book by C.D. Payne (Wikipedia has a page for both the book and film) and will be out later this year. It’s about a young kid (just a year older than you in the book) that meets this girl on a family vacation and decides it is his destiny to be with her from then on. He gets into all kinds of trouble trying to get back to her. It’s one of the funniest books I have ever read and might be my favorite book of all time. I think you’d like it. Also, I noticed on your last.fm page that you have listened to a lot of Stevie Wonder. I got the “Original Musiquarium” greatest hits on tape when I was your age and played them to death. I love him and have almost all of his albums. “Music of My Mind” and “Songs In The Key Of Life” are favorites. Glad you are a fan.
I love Youth in Revolt. I had no idea it had been made into a movie. Thanks for the tip Wes!
I love how we’re so childish and go see all of these movies… Good post, by the way.
You’re dad is Jeff Tweedy right? My parents *love* wilco…..anyway, cool blog!
