Sing The Sound Of Your Laughter

May 11, 2009

Wow. I just saw Star Trek and all I can say is… Wow. Truly epic. I want/need to watch it again with a notepad or something so I can write down all of my thoughts and things I want to remember about it. Otherwise, I’m just left dazed and speechless coming out of the movie theater in awe of its awesomeness. People, I think you need fear for my sanity, because I might just become a Trekkie. No, I won’t. But it sure is an amazing movie. My favorite character is probably Spock. He’s a beast. Kirk is pretty cool, too. I think I like Spock more, though, because he’s so.. so.. Spock-y. If you haven’t seen it yet, you gotz to.

Sammy, dad, and I are having a boys’ week out this week. My mom has gone to Los Angeles to be with her brother, my uncle Danny in this very trying time for him. My mom and Danny are very close siblings, despite living very far away from each other. Their personalities are identical in so many ways. Sometimes my mom will say something and I can totally hear Danny saying it, and vice versa. Today, my mom will get to see little baby Charlie. My mom was going to see Charlie today, but she can’t because she has a sore throat and that is potentially dangerous to such an extremely fragile baby. She’s going to visit him later in the week, hopefully, when she’s not sick. I can’t wait to hear everything about her trip and see pictures of Charlie. Meanwhile, Sammy, “patriarch Tweedy,” and I will be doing things like, well, seeing Star Trek and other dudes’ week things.

Guyz. Bob Dylan (or his Twitter guy.. let’s pretend it’s actually him) has tweeted… with a link to my Bar Mitzvah post! Once again, I was so so so happy and shocked to see this. BOB DYLAN’S TWITTER GUY, IF YOU’RE READING THIS… Hiiii, really appreciate it.

So I have a question.. Most of the time, my posts are combined writings of “all the haps” and include everything I would normally write about. But what if, say, I wrote the same amount overall, but separated things into shorter posts and occasionally made long ones kinda like this? Just an idea. I think I enjoy making these long ones more, but short updates can be much more convenient. How about I compromise and make these more often and short ones occasionally? Yep, just answered my own question. Thanks.

My speech will be coming soon in post form. I would just publish it now, but I want to give this post time to settle in :).

Post title (paraphrased.. kinda) from “In A Station” by The Band.. A lot of my titles are lyrics nowadays. Or quotes from my brother or friends or teacher. Heheh.

Thanks for lending me your mom, Spencer, it is so great to have her here. She got to meet Charlie today. Hope you and Sammy are enjoying Dudes’ Week! Tell Sammy to play the most violent video games he has while your mom is gone! Saw the Bar Mitzvah video last night and was speechless through my tears. Best. Video. Ever. Photos great, too. Now post that speech!

So, I’m sitting in JFK airport, and “Impossible Germany” is playing in the terminal! Totally weird. Especially since I was listening to Sky Blue Sky on my way to the airport and wondering about the lyrics to that song. Anyway, it made me think of your blog, and I just logged on and read all about your bar mitzvah. Wow. It sounds amazing. You know, you’re lucky to have had a real, honest-to-goodness coming-of-age ritual. Most people (at least most Americans) don’t, and I think/imagine it really helps a person understand what growing up is all about. Once again, I’m really touched by your writing, Spencer, especially the way you seem to understand what matters in life. I have very profound memories of my dad singing to me as a kid, too, but I don’t think I knew when I was 13 how valuable those memories were. Okay, sorry for taking up so much space! I really just wanted to say — congrats! (PS, my captcha thingy says: “jouyous only.” right on.)

hahah, it’s okay to be a Trekkie these days…the new movie was so amazing that no one will hold it against you. Your blogs are cool either way…if you have a lot to say, say it, if you don’t, just keep it short. Don’t worry about the pressure of feeling like you have to say a lot in a post, just do it to it.

Bob Dylan has read (or at least knows about) your blog.

This must be some sort of blog benchmark, right? Qualifying you for some blog prize?

Either way, that is pretty damn cool.

You are one cool kid. Your blogs are addictive.
